Hello,
thank you in advance for your help. I have a 1992 Acura Legend with 145K. Last year the head gasket was replaced and this year I put in a new radiator and a thermostat. There are several problems I am having with the car: 1) the temperature gage goes up to the 3/4 market and then the thermostat opens and the gage comes down to the middle, but then goes up the same level and down. And keeps doing that all the time. One thing that I have noticed is that the fans do not start, could that possibly be the reason? 2) When I start it, it idles funny. When the car is in Park, The RPMs keep jumping up and down, within the 1K and 2K marks. When I put it in gear, it is fine. Now, once the car is well warmed up, and the temp. gage goes up and comes down as described above, it starts idling normally at under 1K. Thank You for all your suggestions. It would be helpful if you could also refer me to some other sites or sources that would be help. |
1)seggestion if u do the work verify the concern hook the fans straight up to the battery fans will probably turnon, the one on the right is for the radiator the one on the left is for the condenser but is like a back up then ifit doesturn on then check thefans relay they r right there where the rad is in top to the left of the battif all r good then check thermostat and gasket for dirt and stuff(especially if u used Bars leak for minor rad leak) then get a thermometer put it in the pot some are rated at 170 others 180 it should open center goes down thats a start got more suggetstions 2)u could be leakin coolant and dont kno it they way u kno is to pressure test it of whenit doesthat turn it off add coolant if it stop ur leaking somewhere |
the bouncing temp thing has happened to me with cheep non acura thermostats .
1 fan should cme on if the ac is turned on if not check fuses and relays then look around for unplugged stuff. < src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-41"; urchinTracker(); </> |
