hi, brand new to forum, but at the end of my rope w/power steering fluid leaks. Back on 1/16 I had the pwr steering pump seal replaced. On the work order under remarks, my mechanic typed in 1) the high pressure pwr steering hose is starting to leak, b) the pwr steering speed drive is leaking, c) the pwr steering rack is also starting to leak. My car is an '88 Legend Coupe, 5 spd, I'm the original owner & have always had it serviced religiously. On 1/26, I had that clunky feel come back, checked & it was 1" below low mark, filled it to mid-level, again down 1" from low 4 days later. On driveway, can see leaks in 4-5 spots. My ?, I guess, is can repairs be made for comprehensive solution? Any idea of cost? Love my car, can't afford another now. ps..the work on the pump seal 1/16 was $148. I trust the shop having gone there 14-15 years, but wonder why they did not have a short conversation re these other leaks. All replies greatly appreciated, it's a bit dangerous to drive w/low fluid level.

well if at some point in the vehicles life a non Honda/ Acura power steering fluid was put into the vehicle, you will end up with rubber damage to the system.

inorder to fix you problem you will need to REPLACE every inch of rubber in the system. and flush out the rest.

that means all hoses the rack the pump. every thing.

or...

fix what is leaking the most and get into the habbit of checking and filling that fluid every weekend or gas fill up.

full system rebuild...$1000 easy :(

thanks much, acuralegend. i would say the 1st possibility would in my case be very slim, given the fact that service was by an acura dealership for the 1st 75k miles & this particular independent acura/honda/toyota garage since.

so........it may well be the 2nd or 3rd on your list. thanks for your estimate on the fsr, tough to swallow, but can't afford mo. pmts at present.
