does it crank but no start?.. if so im betting your not getting fuel
your main buss relay runs those 2 and when the temp inside gets hot it can fault. find your ecm diag light (the little red LED) then turn on the car or have someone turn it on for you and watch for that LED. it sould flash 1 time when the key is turned on. if it does not flash then your ecm(engine control module) is not getting power. it gets power from that main buss relay that runs fuel and injectors. 95% of the time when i get a vaper lock call i replace that relay and poof all better. |
< => <!-- var SymRealOnLoad; var SymReal; Sym() { window.open = SymWinOpen; if(SymReal != null) SymReal(); } SymOnLoad() { if(SymRealOnLoad != null) SymRealOnLoad(); window.open = SymRealWinOpen; SymReal = window.; window. = Sym; } SymRealOnLoad = window.onload; window.onload = SymOnLoad; //--> </> My 89 Legend also won't start in hot weather. I open the gas tank lid for several minutes, then, it usually starts. I'll look for the ecm diag light, and, thanks. Greg |
if a gas cap is not venting correctly that can cause a negative pressure in the tank.
thus preventing the fuel pump from doing its job. |
Thank you acuralegend. Does the bussrelay have to be replaced often? Is it worth carrying an extra in the vehicle? I'll also replace the gas cap with one that vents. Thanks again, I really appreciate your help. |
no but dont be surprised if in 2-3 years it does it again...pesky main buss relays anyway.
gas caps have a rubber seal in them as well. how many cars with over 300k and 20 years are still running the original (leaky) one... |
