Please let us know what it was.

sorry that none of us had the magic cure.

btw if you tested for spark, and had it. then your timing belt did not break.

all the timing belt will do is keep your upper 1/2 of the engine in time with the lower 1/2.

there is a slight chance it slipped and is so out of time that it wont run.

(i have never seen this on a import) most of the time when thay slip they rip/strip and you bend valves and no more spark.

that high idle of 2k ish is correct if your engine temp is around 0-15 degrees f

thats the computer equivlent of a choke

now if your engine is hotter then your ECM temp sensor may be out of limits. (making the comp think if fricken cold out)

it could also be a faulty high idle solinoid.

or a faulty idle air controll solinoid.

both cost around 200.

the key wiggle was to see if your ignition switch was loose or worn. (and yes wiggle with then in the ignition.)

Btw always ask for your old parts and ask for the reason they replaced them. (keeps em honist)

since you are not sure about previous maintenance, I would definetly have water pump replaced while he is doing the belt, since water pump is right there.

cheeper is better if your dumping the car

i put a average of 3 timing belts on in a week at my shop.

the thing i look at when i do 1 is are the belt pullys in awsome shape.

if questionable then replace them

always do the front crankchaft seal it costs 25 bucks installed.

alwasy do the cam seals. 10-15 bucks each to install.

then check out that water pump.

a bad seal will leak onto that belt and wear it out fast causing it to break early.

bad pullys mean you have to go through all the labor again to relpace
em. if there not perfect now you WILL be replacing them befor the
next timing belt is due.

and i have found that most water pumps will not last 2 timing belts in
age so odds are your gonna replace befor that belt is due again.

but 1 has to keep cost in mind.

if the pump is 300 bucks and the labor to install it is only 100 then by all means run it till it fails.

JUST MY OPINION.
