i have 1993 acura integra ls 1.8L 2 door 5 speed. okay so here is the deal we bought thecar with a blown up engine in itso we replaced it with a engine i had laying aroundhere and we got it running and set the timing belt properly but we still had to advance the distributer all the way and now we are fighting a bad flat spot off of take off it is really slugish till you hit about 4500 rpm and then itpulls hard any sugestions on what else to do we put a different ecu in the car as well it made it a little better but didnt fix the problem

if your timing is right between the 2 cam gears AND the crankshaft you should not have to advance the distrubiter all the way.

dist timing should set almost center.

i know its a pain but im betting your timing is off
and by the performance you have described im betting your cams are right but your crank is advanced 1 or 2 teeth.

thanks alot i got another question for you since you seem to know alot about hondas .... i put a brand new thermostat in it i drove the car around the block and it over heated on me so i pulled the car into the shop after letting it cool down and thought i had not bleed off the cooling system good enough so i bleed out the system again and topped it off with coolent and let it run for about an hour temp guage never went over half and it wouldnt over heat but the lewer radiator hose never got warm like the thermostat never opened but if it never opened why wouldnt have it over heat

hmmm..

well if you had a air bubble in the system the first time that would cause it to over heat. once the bubble is gone the system should work normal.

there is a chance that the thermostat warped and is sticking open.

this warping could keep the engine too cold and cost you performance and fuel milage.that gauge should have its needle sitting just under the 1/2 way mark. little lower in the winter and a little higher in the summer.
