Hi All,

First post here and I need opinion. I have a 1996 Integra with quite a lot of aftermarket upgrade (such as lower suspension, CAI etc),our local Acura diagnosis that one of the cylinder is weak and need repair soon. Rather the repair the cylinder, I am thinking of replacing it by a GS-R engine. My question is, can GS-R engine be a direct drop-in replacement of the base engine? Do I need a lot of modification in the mounting that will cost a lot of labour?

Thanks.

Paul

nope it bolts in
and if you get 1 from Scott's you can ask for a "swap GSR " and get all the goodies you need

labor should be the same as installing any tegra engine in there.

actually it will be less than rebuilding the engine.

Ask for Dave or Keith at Scotts. 1800-767-8640.

OK A GSR SWAP WOULD RUN 2000.00 and include engine,harness,computer,distrubiter,manifolds...an d tons more.

you can use your current transmission.

P.S. its a 2001 engine with under 60k miles on it.

For the price, the GSR swap would be alot of fun. 2000.00 is a good price for a swap with all the goodies to bolt it rightup and go. It would suck to get the motor only then have to scramble for all the bits and pieces needed to make itwork right. If your gonna replacethe motor, don't put another B18B1 in it. go V-TEC andENJOY your ride to work!

Here's the basic B18 breakdown. For your "DC" chassis(94-01) Three engines were released in the US

B18B1- LS and GS models (your current engine)
B18C1- GSR model
B18C5- Type-R model (not released every year between 94-01)

The previous chassis engines "DA" have engine codes that start with B18A something. Don't get a B18A to swap into your car. I think it's OBD-1. Oh and just for reference My engine, a B18C6, Is a UK spec Type-R motorEdited by: AKinDen
