I have a 1993 Acura Integra LS with 187000 miles on it and it recently has
not been very reliable. I took it to tuffy and they said it needs a new
fuel pump, it still runs right now, but every once in awhile it will
cut out and I'll have to wait 5 mins for it to start again.

So
heres my question, should I pay to get it fixed estimates range from
600-700 for parts and labor. Or should I purchase a new car? This is
presently my 2nd car and my wife uses the Honda Pilot to drive to
school, while I use the Acura somedays when my wife has clinicals so I
can drive the kids. If the Acura goes out we would be screwed.

To fix or not to fix?

My father in law suggested I take it to Acura for a 2nd opinion.

The car is turning over and is getting spark, the weird thing is if i let it sit it will start right up, but if I switch off and immediately try to restart it will not restart.

main buss relay

9 times out of 10 fuel issues on hondas/acuras are due to the 60buck main buss relay.

find your ECM.

i believe its under the carpet on the pass side front foot area

then you will see a quarter coin size glass window on it.

watch that like a hawk

then turn your car on.

dont take your eyes off the window thingie

when you turn on the car that window should flash 1 time red.

if it does not then the main buss relay is not powering up your ecm and not your fuel pump.

if it did flash.

then take it some place that will perform a fuel pressure test.

at Scott's Auto those fuel pumps run 100-150 used

installed takes less than 2 hours

But i can pop in a main buss relay in less than 5 min and it sells for around 60 bucks.

P.S. scotts auto in Colorado ph# is 970-498-0662 ask for me (Vince)
