turbo problems

ok, some may think this is noobish, others may actually get it. i have a 1992 acura integra ls non-v. i went to many performance shops with all of them saying the same thing, that i can turbo my 4 speed auto at bout 30psi i believe. but many tuners and ricers say i cant, the proper way to do it is to go 5 speed with a v-tec b16 head on the b18a1. and a p28 ecu. totally understandable. the possibilties are limitless when i convert to a 5 speed, but why v-tec,and can i really go turbo without harming my engine/tranny. i know bout the whole in a manual the turbo stops yadda yadda...and it an auto it doesnt...etc. but i want a straight answer can i honest to god go turbo on my acura with out seeing my tranny fall out under me o-O.(knock on wood) aha.
