My '03 TL is getting a new transmission under warrantee (a known problem for this model) and the dealer also says my 5 motor mounts are cracked and needs to be replaced. Does anyone know if the engine motor mounts must be removed or loosened to do the transmission replacement? The dealer wants to charge me full price for the mounts and i think it is a duplication of labor as long as they have to remove the transmission.

Please shed some light on this. ThanksEdited by: sandorhoch

if the car is under warranty, and I am assuming it is, that is covered under the 6 year 70k mile warranty. the dealer should take of that issue with you and with no cost to you. double check your warranties before you let him charge you

After checking with multiple sources, basically other acura dealers, it turns out that unfortunately the motor mounts are not covered under the 70k mile warranty which is a specificmileage extensionjust for the transmission. However the dealer admittedtwo of the mounts were next to the transmission and agreed not to charge for those two and the cost of labor to replace them. It was worth the time to investigate.
