I'm changing the timing belt on my 2001 TL 3.2. I've got everything ready to assemble but I need the following info to continue:

1. What is the torque on the harmonic balancer retaining bolt.

2. How do I reset the automatic belt tensioner to accomodate the new belt.

Any help would be most appreciated. Klaus

according to alldata

the crank pully torq is 180 foot pounds.

The tensioner needs to be removed and clamped inorder to depress the pistion in it

clamp it in a vice then apply some pressure and wait.
reapply pressure and wait. repete untill the hole on its case matches the hole on the shaft. then insert a allen wrench or drill bit into its hole to lock it in place so it can be reassembled.

crushing it together in 1 movement will destroy it so take your time and take small steps.

I appreciate the info. I completed it today. Replaced all the belts and ldlers. A little tedious but not to difficult. The old TL's ready for the next 100k miles.
