I have a 1995 Integra and there isgrinding noise in the left rear tire. I know i need the brakes bled but i haven't gotten around to doing it yet. Starting today i heard a grinding noise that came from the left rear tire. It would speed up as the car started going faster. I think it's the rear disc brakes not releasing the disc all away but i'm not to familiar with acuras or imports for that matter.





please any advise would be greatly appreciated.

</>Does the noise get worse or better when you are braking? Sounds like the wear tabs on one of your pads is alerting you that they are worn down and need to be replaced. Also before you take thewheel off, when the wheel is in the air wiggle it back and forth to make sure the wheel bearing isn't going out. If the bearing is bad the wheel will wiggle.</>

i looked and there's plenty of brake pad left. i'll check the bearing right now.

as i was coming home from work it gets worse if i dont press the gas down. and when i stop completly like at a red light theres no noise at all...








when you said the bearing did you mean the tire rod?

your rear wheels have a sealed bearing assembly located behind your brake disk. generally that causes a vibration and a loud humming noise that gets louder with speed. It's sounds like your pads are worn. If you can do it yourself, remove the wheel and inspect the rear pads, do your rotors have any gouges or grooves in them? If not take it a mechanic you trust and let them diagnois it, then maybe you can fix it yourself.

i know what your talking about with the wheel bearing. It's not humming noise that would come from the bearing. It's more of a heavy grinding noise. i really think it's the brake pad not releasing the disc and i've looked at the pads and there's plenty left on it.





thanks for the help... any more would still be apprieciated.


P.S. would you think it's ok to drive on or would it be just unsafe. It's my only way of transportation and i need to go to school in the morn.

a bad wheel bearing will hum for some time untill it goes REALLY bad then it will sound like a grinding/chewing sound.

the good news is the sound will soon stop.

the bad news is your wheel tire and entire braking system are about to leave the vehicle. (usually causing thousands of dollars of damage as it rips the back 1/2 of your car off carreening you into another car in the prosses.

PLEASE stop driving this car till you get it fixed.

Wheel bearings or brakes are both system critical to the safty of your car and to others. dont goof with them.

im not saying take it to a tech im just asking you to fix it befor you drive much further.

ok that makes sense. I just always thought of a bad wheel bearing will make that humming noise and that's it.





Ok thanks that's a simple thing i've done it plenty before. Would there be anything different that i'd have to know that's different on integra's? Like i said i'm used to domestic cars

these are easy to install 1 nut on most a few use 4 pull the disk and your almost done.
