Gauge failure?
 

My 2003 TL s-type just developed a high pitched whining noise coming from the gauges...sounds like a dentist drill, just not as loud. Anybody know what this might be? A friend says one or more of the gauges is about to fail...said a synchro is about to go? Not sure if he's got it right....
