Hello I have a 96 Integra, non vtec, A\T

The cooling fans do not turn on, making the car start to overheat. I put the hot air at max and it cools down.

I have replaced the ect sensor and switch and still does not turn the fan on. They did come on once, when the car was already getting close to the red line on the temp display. They do come on when the ac is on. Any ideas?

Thanks..

oh yeah I have already replaced the thermostat and radiator cap as well.

Do the radiator fans come on if you turn the AC on?

That is a very good indication that the fan circuits are working. Being this old it is possible you have a partially blocked radiator. If your hoses are not in good condition and the system truly gets very hot, you may blow a hose. Have you pressure checked the cooling system?

What are the driving conditions when the over heat occurs? Are you on the freeway cliping along at 80 MPH or are you stuck in stop and go traffic mostly idling, is it very hot outside (100 degrees F or above), are you running the AC, etc.

A 96 should be ODB-II. Have you got a fault indication and have you scanned for fault codes?

These cars are too complex to shotgun troubleshoot; you need the manual and spend some time studying it. It likely has two or more temperature sensors. you need tools like a quality automotive multimeter, cooling system test tools, and a fine analytical mine.

Good Luck
