I have a check engine light on in my recently-purchased 93 Integra. I believe it's the 1.7L but I'm not sure where to find out. There don't appear to be any labels on the car anywhere.

In any event, the check engine light comes on sometimes, and other times not. I have always been able to diagnose my problem through the diagnostics connection on all of my 1996+ cars but I don't believe this car has that.

Other than going to a dealer who will charge me $10,000 to look at it, how can I get more information about what's wrong with it?

Thanks!

on the passenger side of the dash next to the door piller is a 2 wire blue plug.

that is the diag connector for that vehicle.

short them wires together (carefull not to touch em to chassis ground) tunr on the car but do not start it, then watch the check engine light on the dash.

long duration blinks mean 10 and short is 1

so a bliiinnnnkkk. bliiinnnnkkk. blink blink = would be code 22.

if there is more than 1 code you will get a 3-4second. pause in the blinks between codes.

Excellent. That's a lot more information than I had before. Where can I find a list of codes?

Have you done this? Are you sure it's safe to do?

Thanks!

You will also need the list of codes to know what you are chasing. They can be found in most service manuals, or ask here. I know that code 43 is a fuel supply problem. A paper clip works great to short the plug. The plug will be at the top of the passenger side kick panel in footwell area.
