Newly aquired 1998 cl 3.0 it just stops running ..without warning...

can someone give a clue as to why it does this

There can be many reasons as to why, but these are 3 of the most common reasons:
#1 Loose connections at, distb, ign coil or alternator
#2 Not enoughf fuel reaching the fuel injectors
#3 Vacume leaks in the lines or even the gasket between the intake manifold or the throttle body...

Usaully it is some type of fuel pick up problem, or fuel filter. It is possible the engine was slightly flooded, causing it to loose power.

I think there must be some problem in engine.Or its better you should go and meet the car mechanic,he will definitely make it solve.
