car was running fine. started shutting off on mme while driving, no noise just stoped. every time up till now it restarted with no probs, thought it was a fluke. checked the feed line at the fuel filter, no fuel. checked the fuel pump when ignition comes on nothing, hooked fuel pump directly to 12 v source rauns like a top. checked voltage with meter at fuel pump connection reading around 7.5 to 8 v d/c then goes away. i have no idea past this. what should the voltage be at the fuel pump? is there some kind of relay issue, one person told me thsat if the oil pressure sensor is bad the fuel pump will not work, only problem is i can;t find where that sensor is or how to check it. any help would be great!!

No that fuel circuit starts at the ECM.
which triggers a fuel pump relay then the relay turns on your fuel pump.

the ignition switch is a known problem area as well as that relay.

but the ecm could be told to shut you down if oil pressure is to low,it thinks your steeling it,or air bags deploy.

you should have battery voltage to the fuel pump. (CARFULL TESTING) you tank sender will have a varied voltage depending on fuel level.

First thing i would do is go get a main buss relay. its a brown thing up under the dash neer the pedals. 9 pin rectangle conecter and pop in a new 1. its about 75 bucks and if its not the problem im sure it will be soon.

second test that ingition switch. i have seen them go bad where the car will crank not it wont power up the ecm.

good luck.

Please let us know what it was.

thanks for the help! How do i go about testing the ignition switch? and if it is the ignition switch, is it the whole unit or just a switch? reason i ask that is i looked under the dash where you put the key, that whole unit is huge and looks very exspensive!!!
