i went and hit ma car to a back bumper of an old parked van.

nothing happened to that van.. but my right hand bumper got scratched. 5 or 6 scratches.. some silver scratches and two black ones. how can i fix this? does the bumper need to be replaced??

It depends how deep the scratches r... if they r deeper than the clear coat n dug down 2 the metal then u might wanna buy sum filler n sum touch up paint if ya dnt wanna go n buy a whole new bumper... u can use a light abrasive to buff it out, but if that doesnt work... go try a heavier abrasive polish. this should smooth out the scratches somewhat n already make them a tad bit less noticeable. after that u can wax the area with any wax u prefer n hopefully if the scratches rnt 2 bad thatl do a pretty good job. remember 2 wash the area wher the scratches r first b4 u buff um out. also, use a microfiber towel, not a terry cloth or nything... good luck, hope that works... if not, u might wanna go 2 a body shop n theyd have no prob gettin um out. but i wouldnt go as far as replacin the whole bumper unless u really have 2. unless ya got a few hundred layin around 2 blow lol haha ok, good luck with that!

It does not sound like the bumper is gouged at all. If this is the case, all you need to do is sand the areas with some fine sandpaper (1000 Grit) till the are is nice and smooth. Second, clean the bumper with hot soap and water followed by rubbing alcohol. This will make sure there are no contaminents when you start to paint. Next, spray flexible primer on the area. This will give the paint flexibility as well as promote a good foundation for the paint. Then, spray your basecoat color, and finally; clear coat. These steps will repair the area to brand new condition if done correctly. If you need more detailed instructions or if I can help in any other way, feel free to contact me.
