Hey guys, newbie here.
I just picked up a '97 Acura CL w/ the 3.0. I was wondering what type of gas it needed? Don't have an owners manual... |
I called a local acura dealer and they said you should use 87 or higher. |
I have a 01' CL (3.2 L) and my owner's manual says 91 and higher.

If it pings, increase the grade. If it pings on the good stuff, then look for trouble. My legend runs good on 89 most of the year; summers with the 100 plus temperatures, tends todictate 91 octane.

Hey Guys, Dink Here!!! I just picked up a 99 CL and noticed that this care can use up a lot of gas. Is this normal for a 6cyl. |
I'm getting 28+ mpg with my 97 3.0 but I also have done CAI/plugsw/wires/complete exhaust w/headers and 2.5" pipe and only run around about 80

My 97 has always ran on Reg.unldfrom new Once a month I run a tank of prem.unld through with additive keeps the injectors clear

The owners manual for my 99 Acura CL 3.0 CL says 86 octane or higher. I'm using 87 octane and it runs just fine with no problems. Mine also seemed to be using too much gas, so when I had my oil changed they checked my injectors and the chamber that's on top of the engine. They were filthy with carbon. They recommended that I get get a 3-step cleaning that cost about $75 to clean everything out. I got the fuel injector cleaning and I can say it was well worth it. The engine has more power and my gas mileage has definitely improved. I'm getting about 4-6 MPG more than I was getting before. The place where I had the cleaning done used a Valvoline 3-step cleaning process, so that's the only one I could recommend. |
