Angry 2001 CL-S Engine Swap, won't start.

Have a 2001 CL Type S and just swapped the engine. Original engine (engine had 167K on it) timing belt broke with only 35K miles on it and valves on the rear bank were bent. Bought a replacement J32A2 engine with about 73K on it and came with a 5 year warranty. Swapped the engines out and the new one turns over fine but won't start (no fire). Another problem noticed that may be contributing to this is the dash indicator for the gear the trans is in (automatic) shows it is in 5th gear when it is in Park (also shows Park indicator light lit). When I move the shift lever through the gears the lights on all the gears positions light as they are supposed to, only the 5th gear light stays on all the time. I checked the cable linkage twice on this to verify it is connected correctly and in park when I connected it to the shift rod. Am getting fuel to the motor but am thinking the sensor that makes the 5th gear indicator on the dash light is also preventing the car from starting while it is in gear. Am guessing the sensor that controls the gear indicator light is in the tray. Anyone have any ideas what to check to this sensor malfunction?
