I have also had a new thermostat put in, but the car still over-heats. water pump no doubt about it.Edited by: dan3lo

if you see steam at the rear at the firewall , i would be surprises if it is the water pump.,, most likely a hose leaking .. You need to pressure test the cooling system to properly locate the cause
also have you checked the coolant level ??
